New law on visas
IN THE NAME OF THE REPUBLIC THE FOLLOWING LAW HAS BEEN GRANTED: Article 1. Aliens traveling to national territory must have their corresponding travel documents and a visa issued by the competent authorities of the Foreign Service of the Dominican Republic or from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic. PARAGRAPH I: The following will be exempted from these formalities: a) nationals from those countries where there is an existing agreement of visas and whose travel objective is authorized in the concerning texts; and b) nationals of those countries where the law permits them to travel to the country using a tourist card. PARAGRAPH II: In cases where a resident status is to be established, or for business means, or professional representation, even if there is no retribution in the national territory, or for a stay longer than the one authorized by the visa agreements or by the Tourist Cards, it will be mandatory to previously obtain the visa to travel to the country, in all cases, and according to the dispositions of the present law, of the agreements on visas and of the law that authorizes the Tourist Cards. LEGAL BASE OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS. Article 2. The visas will be issued in passports or travel documents accepted by the competent authorities of the Dominican Republic and to those persons who qualify to be admitted into national territory. Article 3. The visas will be classified according to the category of the passports, quality of the beneficiaries, travel purposes, and use of applications and terms of validity.(fuente: dominicanrepublic)
